What are extensions?

Extensions are the end-parts (= extensions) of domain names, that contains 2 to 5 characters. The extensions indicates the type of domain. Almost every country in the world has their own extension (for instance .nl for the Netherlands, .be for Belgium). There are also a few extensions especially for companies and/or (governmental) institutes (e.g. .com, .net, .org, .biz)
